Hong Kong Government Leaders congratulate winners of the 46th Geneva Awards, including the HKU teams

Back to NewsThe Reception for Awardees of the 46th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva which was officiated by the Hon Mrs. Carrie Lam, GBM, GBS, The Chief Executive of the HKSAR was held at the Central Government Offices on 4 June 2018.
Professor Paul Tam, Professor Andy Hor, Professor Christopher Chao and Dr S C Kim joined the Reception in celebrating the achievements made by the Hong Kong universities, R&D Corporations and technology companies from the Hong Kong Science Park at the 46th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva.
The seven winning research teams who represented the University of Hong Kong at the Geneva Exhibition also took part in the celebration and showcased their award-winning projects to the participating guests and media. A full-scale street lighting demo of Professor Ron Hui's winning passive LED driver technology was also setup at the Reception to demonstrate its capabilities and benefits.
Our HKU delegation was greeted by the Chief Executive who expressed her interest in the winning passive LED drive technology and she is also keen to consider how the Government may employ such technology for the benefit of the Hong Kong public. Furthermore, the HKU delegation was also congratulated by many other important VIP guests, alumni and friends of HKU.
